Heads Up for a Downed Tree, Hats and a Trellis

A downed oak tree, Easter, Fiesta, and gardening have kept us busy for the past few weeks.  Here are some photos of what our heads have been up to.

A casualty of our recent drought.
Luckily it didn't land on the roof or our heads!

"Little Helper"
Scruffy helping with the tree removal.

What do you do with dollar store finds?...

...make Easter Bonnets for...
...these silly heads!

What do you do with MORE dollar store finds and such?
Why you make a fiesta hat for this head for Bunco Fiesta Night!

Voted "Best Hat" award, thanks ladies!

Fiesta Bunco Babes

Gerald cut these...

...for these...

...to make these...

...trellis' for tomatoes.

While putting these up, one fell and landed on Brenda's head, shoulder and arm!
Ouch! Good thing she has a hard head!

The PolyMax Grow Tubes are working out great.  All the plants are growing and doing well.

Happy Birthday Brenda

The girl I married and the woman she has become who is always in the shadow making our life more fun. Thank God for someone so special that takes care of so many without a second thought. The one that makes our house a home. The smile that warms our hearts when she walks in the room, and makes lasting memories we share forever. We all love you Brenda and have a special day!!!!

Farming on the Rockin G and B

Or should the title read Farming on Rock. When the realization came to us last August that life was to short not to follow our passions, the thought of growing vegetables and flowers on our 8 acres of Hill Country Land where the soil depth averages 1/2" topsoil on limestone and clay did not seem to matter.

So we started just as we have for the last eight years, cut down cedar, mulch cedar, move rocks, move more rocks, and move more rocks...........

Let The Fun Begin

Topper

After 16 years of unconditional love Topper our Jack Russell Terrier time has ended with us and gone to be with his best friend Oliver and our first dog Bandit. Buddy and Scruffy, his roommates are missing him as Brenda and I.

God saw you were tired and it was not meant to be
So he put his arms around you and whispered
"Come to Me"
With tearful eyes we watched you,
and saw you pass away,

Although we loved you dearly,
we could not make you stay,

 A Golden Heart stopped beating,
hard working hands at rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best,....

2 Years Later

Well like the old saying says, Time Sure Does Fly. Since Brenda did all of the posts before, I thought it was about time to learn something new. So here goes.

Brenda and her sister Joanne started a new business called Rockin-Wreaths. They have completed a lot of awesome wreaths, gift baskets, and rug hooking carrying bags. The website has taken a lot of  brain cells but we are slowly making progress. Who knew you had to be a writer, photographer, artist, inventory controlman,  publisher, and web master. Blogging I see is a lot simpler and fun.

The new and exciting endeavor is the start of a dream of Brenda and I. The Rockin G and B farming business. Stay tuned for the next update with details.
